TritonSleep 1.2 is on the App Store and Google Play. It adds the sounds people told us they actually fall asleep to, a calm voice that can read to you so you can close your eyes, and an interface in nineteen languages.
Travel sounds
Plenty of people sleep better on a plane than in their own bed. 1.2 brings the drone home: a plane cabin at cruise, a train carriage, a car on the motorway and a ship’s cabin. They are steady, low and unremarkable in the best way, and they work just as well on an actual journey with headphones in. Our guide to sleeping on a plane or train has the rest of the kit.
Around the house
A washing machine, a tumble dryer, a dishwasher and the hum of a fridge at night join the fans. Familiar household drones mask the sudden noises that wake you, and many people find them more comforting than pure noise. There is also more rain: rain drumming on a metal roof, and a heavier storm with thunder close by. That takes the library past 45 sounds and tones. Why it works: fan and appliance noise for sleep.
A voice that reads to you
Winding down shouldn’t mean staring at a screen. Turn on Spoken guidance in Settings and TritonSleep reads affirmations, wind-down prompts, breathing phases and technique steps aloud. Each breathing pattern and affirmation deck introduces itself before it begins, and the 30-day course and the technique explainers have a Listen control of their own. It is off until you switch it on. The voice is in English; the fourteen narrated wind-downs play in every language. More on using sleep affirmations.
Nineteen languages
TritonSleep now follows your phone’s language: English, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Thai, Traditional Chinese, Turkish and Vietnamese. Dates, times and numbers follow your language too.
Everything else is where you left it
The five-layer mixer, sleep timers with slow fades, the tone generator, guided breathing, wind-down routines, the private dream journal and the lucid-dreaming toolkit are all unchanged. As ever: no ads, no account, and everything stays on your device.
TritonSleep is free to download, with a Premium subscription for the full library and toolkit. It supports general wellness and relaxation, and is not a medical device.
